Winning the Quick-Commerce Shelf: Short Films for Shoppers Who Decide in Seconds

A shopper opens a quick-commerce app for milk and sees your product on a banner. The next step, add to basket or scroll on, happens quickly. For brands, that makes quick commerce both a sales channel and an advertising channel, and it asks a lot of a short film.

A channel brands are betting on

A Social Samosa report from January 2025 pulled together the picture. The sector had reportedly crossed Rs 1,000 crore in annualised ad revenue. Blinkit reportedly earned over Rs 400 crore from advertising in 2024. boAt’s co-founder Aman Gupta said quick commerce is the brand’s third-largest sales channel, and Sugar Cosmetics reportedly makes over Rs 2 crore a month there. Redseer’s Kushal Bhatnagar said some brands see better return on ad spend than on other media. Most of these figures are platform claims and press reports, so treat them as direction, not audit.

What the format asks of a film

Show the product in the first second. Make one promise, not three. Keep the pack large and readable, because the shopper may be comparing it to the product next to it. Make the film work with the sound off, and design it to loop cleanly.

The pack is the lead character

On a shelf made of thumbnails, the pack does the selling. That is why we never let a model invent label art; the real pack is placed into the shot, as we describe in our post on getting the pack right.

Variants by offer, pack size and city

Quick-commerce offers change often: a combo, a trial size, a free delivery threshold. Building offer lines as swappable layers lets one approved film carry many offers. Pair that with real variety in the opening shot, as we discuss in our post on creative variety, and the campaign stays fresh.
